CHALLENGE ODOR CONTROL

We solve problems relating to odor-forming substances

Odors play a major role in everyday life: the sense of smell is always active and cannot be blocked out. After noise, odor nuisance is one of the most frequently mentioned environmental nuisances.

This is relevant for tradespeople insofar as plant permits can be refused or withdrawn by the authorities if unacceptable emissions are found to be hazardous to health or a nuisance.
In addition, complaints from local residents about unpleasant odors can be a major problem.
Plant operators must therefore rule out risks to life and health and limit nuisance to a reasonable level.

Our extensive range of H2S and odor binders and maskers get rid of the problem and work quickly and effectively.

Our application specialists select the right product for your individual challenge, depending on the type and origin of the odor-forming substances.

Causes of odor nuisance

Odors are mostly formed via material conversion processes. Of the known chemical compounds, several thousand can be perceived olfactorily, depending on their concentration, whereby no chemical property is typical for odorants. Normally, odorants are defined as

  • aliphatic, aromatic and halogenated hydrocarbons
  • Oxygen-containing, sulphur-containing and nitrogen-containing compounds
  • some inorganic substances (e.g. H2S, ammonia)

In addition to the olfactorily disturbing odor-forming substances, there are numerous substances that are of great importance to tradespeople due to their toxicity, corrosiveness, etc:

  • Ammonia (NH3) and Amines (organic derivatives of NH3)
  • Hydrogen sulphide (H2S)
  • Volatile thiols

Typical odor emitters are:

  • Agriculture
  • Slaughterhouses
  • Waste management companies
  • Sewer system
